What is the kinetic chain and why is it important for me?
Even though we may want focus on a particular muscle group like abs, chest or thighs, these body parts don’t live in isolation. I look at the feet, head and even the tongue position to facilitate movement so that we can move at our best capability.
Why can't I activate my core?
Movement is governed by our brain not by muscles. Many of my clients have difficulty engaging a certain muscle or stopping a certain muscle from engaging when not desired. With proper tactile cuing and props I can help the brain identify where the movement should come from. I’m also pursuing further education in neurocentric approach to health and fitness.
Where can I do my workouts?
Workouts are designed so that you can do them at home or in the gym. In fact, for the basic core-activation and breathing exercises you will only need a matt and a wall. Especially in the beginning, you will need to focus on the inhales and exhales and be very mindful of what muscles are activating and when. Therefore, I quiet undisturbed place is best. Will your kids or pets discover your quiet place? Yes, yes they will and it’s ok! 🙂

What equipment will I need?
In the beginning a matt, a wall to place your feet on and a pillow or a yoga block will be sufficient. However, I recommend investing in a set of bands, weights or a gym membership because:
- Picking up a carseat or a bag of groceries requires a certain strength. In order to gain that strength we will need to use some resistance.
- A functional body is one that can move in different ways. We will work on pulling and pushing, squatting and hinging and for that we will need at least bands.
- If you want to achieve some muscle definition, weights are a must.
Are bodyweight exercises better for me?
Body weight exercises became very popular in the recent years. One of the reasons is that they can be done anywhere without any equipment. However, this can be their downside as well. Our body can be too heavy to lift or push which encourages our brain to activate cheater muscles to help out with the movement.
What if I can't perform a certain movement?
Our bodies are unique which requires an individualized approach. I’ll try to meet your body where it’s at by providing alternatives and customized instructions to help you perform the movement based on what your body needs.
